We have been having some magical sunsets in Cornwall recently. Vibrant blues, luminous oranges against the crushing noise of the waves. This particular photo I took is one of my favourites and no editing was done. It was like watching a film screen and the colours continually changed for at least a hour or more as the sun was setting. I also like the calmness of the sea which does not happen often on the North Coast! This all inspires my jewellery and gives me a sense of mindfulness in a busy world.
This is the finished, polished and ready to wear Tidal bangle. It is smaller and more wearable version of my previous Tidal Bangle post and a range I am currently working on. There will be more bangles, earrings and pendants to match. I am loving creating and designing in the studio, my favourite part of my job.
I think everyone sees the end result of silver. Highly polished, shining, reflecting and looking ready to wear. It takes a lot of work to get to to that stage. Firstly you need to solder the jewellery, pickle it, file it and finally polish. Here is a photo of exactly how messy this process is and gives you an idea of how silver looks before the shine. You can see why nail polish and long nails are not necessary!
A small diversion from jewellery...Who knew that these limpet shells could look so beautiful? This was a commission that I took from a customer who had collected shells from a beach sentimental to her. I varnished them to highlight the subtle colours and textures and love the result. I may even add to this collection...
This cuff bangle took sometime to make, but what a show stopper!! It is inspired by the ebbing flows of the tides and captures the reflections and movement of the sea. I will be making smaller and more wearable versions of this design for my Sea Collection on the website.
